The Shed is now open again
The Shed remains in full operation. With the changing Covid situation and Government requirements, we have revised the Covid Response rules at the Shed as follows:
1. Shed members, guests, and visitors will be allowed in the Shed, subject to the following requirements:
· Members, guests, and visitors must have a valid Vaccine Pass or be able to demonstrate fully vaccinated status.
· Members guests, and visitors must sign in and out on Vistab at the entrance at each visit.
· Members and guests must not have an elevated body temperature. This will be spot checked non-invasively by a Trustee.
· We will be monitoring and may limit the number of members in each of the workshops.
· Members are encouraged to take their breaks outside on the deck (weather dependent). You are also encouraged to bring your own beverage and cup.
2. The following practices remain in place:
· Masks are to be worn in the Shed at all times unless you have a mask exemption (proof required)
· Maintain a 1 metre separation from other Members whenever possible unless the nature of the work will not allow
· Wash and sanitise their hands before coming into the workshop by going straight into the washroom to
wash hands before leaving the entrance lobby. To make easy - just follow the sign!
· Additional hygiene practices (disinfecting door handles and common touch areas) will be regularly undertaken
· Increased cleaning by our cleaners (twice per week). Help them by keeping the washrooms tidy.
· Members are requested to clean tool handles and touch surfaces before and after use with disinfectant and towels
provided
· Members who attend regularly are to notify the Shed if they or an immediate family member tests positive for Covid-19 or if they have contact with a Covid-19 case.
· If you have a covid test, the Member must wait until they get a negative result before returning to the Shed
· If a Member returns a positive result, they must not attend the Shed until their quarantine period has ended and they are cleared by MOH
· Members who are unwell (e.g. symptoms such as coughs, colds, or a temperature) must notify the Shed, and
immediately stop coming to the Shed and not attend for 2 weeks after symptoms pass.

Around The Shed
History:
in 2012, an elected Board of Trustees obtained from Auckland Council a lease of a site at 34 Elliott Avenue, Glenfield (in Elliott Reserve) and had constructed a 300m² TotalSpan shed. During 2012, members fully insulated The Shed and completed the internal fit out.
The Shed was officially opened on Sunday April 7th 2013.
In early 2016, an extra 100m² was added to The Shed to more than double the amount of space available for engineering. Once again, members chipped in and completed the internal fit-out to a very high standard.
By early 2019, a second extension, the Technology Room, was completed. This will cater for electronics, media, small model making, 3D printing and related interests.
